Mirror Mirror On The Wall

Nov 29 2010 - When it's quiet, it's either a very BAD moment or a very CUTE moment. this time, it was a cute moment! I was getting ready and Kai was being very quiet. I peeked around the corner and found him sitting in front of the mirror brushing his hair. My sweet baby boy was copying his mommy!

Kai needs his privacy

Nov 29 2010 - Kai needs his privacy when he is going #2! He usually goes into a corner and grunts until his all finished. He normally does not want anyone around when he's taking care of business!
Kai's not potty trained yet, but he sure knows when he has to go number 2! I was in the family room playing with Kai when all of a sudden, he makes a run for it towards the living room. I went to see what he was doing and he went to his "corner" where he always does his deed! I'm sure he didn't appreciate it but I couldn't help myself and took a picture.

Choo Choo around the tree

Nov 28 2011 - Kai loves the train that goes around our christmas tree. He can just stare at it and watch it go round and round. At first, he was afraid of it and would only stare at it from afar, but he got more and more used to it and now he's able to get up close. I was in the kitchen and noticed that Kai wasn't around...in fact, it was quiet! I ran into the living and room found him intensely playing with the train. He kept putting it on and off the track. He was so precious that I had to take a picture.

Glimpse of Santa #2

Nov 28 2010 - I absolutely love this photographer~ Jennifer Eliason. She always does this Glimpse of Santa photo shoot where Santa is someone that the baby knows (dad, mom, etc.). That's why you don't see santa's face in the photos. If too much of the face shows on the photo, we just crop the picture so that the face gets cut off. Proceeds go to a family in need (normally a family with a child with health issues or disabilities) so I love to participate! This was our second time shooting Glimpse of Santa but of course, it was much harder this year than last year. Last year, Kai was at that age where if I just called his name, he would look my direction and smile! This year, Kai was at the age where I would call his name and he would ignore me. Not only that, he would run around Santa and always run off the photo shoot! My solution? - Yogurt! We tempted Kai with yogurt so it looks like Kai's looking up at Santa, but if you look close, you can see that Santa is holding up a spoon with yogurt on it! Now, as anyone can see from the photos, Jason is not Santa. Why? Because he tore his Achilles the day before and was in surgery during this photo shoot. So, Grandpa came to the rescue! I was so afraid that we wouldn't get any good photos since Kai was just all over the place, but Jennifer came through as always and took some FUN pictures. Of course, we also got some blooper pictures too, but those are also funny and worth keeping!

Where's Kai's blankie?

Nov 26 2010 - Kai was playing with his blankie in the family room, but when it was time to go to bed, I couldn't find it anywhere! Kai loves his blankie and he needs it to fall asleep (it takes him awhile to fall asleep without the blankie). I looked all over the house and just couldn't believe that it was lost. Jason had just had his surgery so he was on the sofa just lying there...not much help. I kept asking him if he saw it or if he could see it anywhere and he kept saying "NO". Finally, I just put Kai down with a different blanket that has a similar feel to his favorite blankie. As I came downstairs and walked into the family room, I see this pretty yellow looking cloth underneath Jason's head....Yes. Jason was lying right on the blanket. I kept asking him if he could see the blanket, but I guess he didn't really bother to turn his head! Normally, I would be pretty annoyed, but this time, it was actually pretty funny. I just took a picture without telling Jason why...after I took the picture, I showed Jason the picture in the camera and he realized that the blankie was right next to his head! The look on his face was priceless!

Time Out

Nov 26, 2010 - Kai had his first official "time out". We were decorating the Christmas Tree and he kept trying to grab the ornaments. I thought ahead last year and bought lots of shatter proof decorations. But, I still had some regular breakable ones in the box...so Kai came around again and even after telling him "NO", he picked one up, through it and it shattered on the tile. I then put him in the office and closed the door for his "time out". He just sat on the ottoman for awhile but I don't think he really understood he was in trouble. I'll have to start looking for a real time out mat or something.

Stubborn Kai

Kai is so stubborn!!! I just don't know where he gets it from! If you're not convinced, here are a couple of funny stories that should prove how stubborn he is!

1. I was taking a shower and he was outside waiting for me. Our shower has a glass door, and Kai loves to open the door to feel the water. I kept saying NO and he didn't like this one bit. Well, even if the shower door is closed, a little bit of water always splashes out at the bottom (between the door and the tile). He noticed this and started putting his finger on the water and putting it in his mouth. Of course, I told him NO! Then, he just put his entire mouth right on the tile and started licking the water off the tile that came from the shower!!!! When I told him to stop, he lifted his head and said "Mmmm!".

2. I put Kai in his car seat and placed a plastic bag with food next to him in the car. While I was driving, he kept pulling at the plastic bag. I was afraid that the contents in the bag would spill, so I told him "NO NO!". He wouldn't stop playing with it, so I finally swatted his hands away and sternly said "NO". I could then see in my rear view mirror that he was going for the bag again. Before he could even touch it, I would say "NO" and he would back his hand off. He then got really mad and started moving the paper bag up and down making it rustle. I finally had to pull the car over over, get mad at him, and then get back on the road. I was happy because I thought that he had given up and was sitting quietly, but boy was I wrong! I looked in my rear view mirror and I notice that he is quite content because he was pinching a small piece of the bag between his thumb and index finger! It was just a small little piece...nothing that should make any difference to him! But not my little Kai...he is so stubborn and he wanted to prove that he CAN touch the bag.

sick baby Kai

Kai was sick couple of times in October. It was so sad because the normally Extremely Active Kai was always tired and quiet. He would just sit still and not want to move much. We even had to take him to the Emergency Care because he wouldn't stop throwing up! Every night, I would go check up on him and find him covered in vomit. Poor thing! Well, we thought he was feeling better so when James and Simone was here, we went to Rodizzio Grill for lunch. As soon as we got there, he was soo fussy so I just decided to take him home by myself. As I was driving home, Kai just started vomiting in the car! It went all over the seat!!! I finally had to just take Kai out of the car while he was still in his car seat. Thank Goodness for Moms because my mom was there to help me stay sane and sanitize the car seat from top to bottom. It took Kai forever to get over this flu, but he finally started feeling better once we gave him some suppository. I think this helped clear his system of all the bad bacteria. Well, we had the car seat out of the car for about a week, and Kai got used to using it as his personal chair in the family room! At least he had some fun with this whole flu thing. Maybe we will have to buy him a small chair just for him for Christmas!

Kai's learning to shop

We were walking around Bed Bath and Beyond, and Kai was watching us put different items into the cart. He then started catching on to what we were doing, looked around for something he wanted, found this fun little M&M fan, and dropped it into the cart. He was sooo proud of himself! He was all smiles. Of course, we had to buy Kai's first shopping item!

The scary Silence

Silence is probably the scariest thing to go through with Kai. When it's silent, you know he's doing something that he's not supposed to be doing!!! Sure enough, I thought he was being a good little boy....when I found this mess. Kai can't be trusted especially when he's being quiet!

Nursery

Many parents look forward to the day that their child can go into Nursery on Sunday during Sunday School. The rule is simple...you have to be 18 months. Well, Kai was now 18 months and he was finally allowed to go into Nursery...but this was not very easy for me. It was so hard to let him go. Jason dropped him off, but I couldn't help but keep checking up on him every 5 minutes. He cried when Jason tried to leave, but once he got playing with toys, he was just fine. Unfortunately, I wasn't fine! Thank goodness for the little peek windows on the doors. I could just peek in whenever I wanted. I was so tickled that he was with other kids, but I was also so sad because it made me realize that my baby was growing up! He wasn't really playing with the other kids though...he was just playing on his own. This didn't bother me too much. But then, the next time I peeked in, it was snack time. All the kids were sitting nicely in their chairs except for you know who.....Kai! He was standing around all the other kids trying to take their snacks! I think we have some training to do! This is from his very first day at nursery. My sweet baby boy is growing up :(

What a day!

Nov 12 2010 - You know how you see kids at the store who's making a mess or running around and you think "Where's the mom?"...well, I'll tell you where the Mom is...she's cleaning up the last mess that the child made and then running around trying to keep up with all the terror the child is doing in the store! Unfortunately, I had to experience this first hand...
Our good family friend's little girl, Brandi, was getting baptized so I went shopping with Kai to buy her a present. We were at Seagull Books where they had so many cute things from baptism necklaces, bracelets, books, etc. But, all of my focus and energy was spent trying to keep Kai under control! As soon as I got in the store, he wanted to get down. Of course, I let him down but had a tight grip on his wrist. He kept wiggling his arm to get away, but held on tight. Well, that just makes him mad and start yelling, so I pick him up to keep him quiet...but then, he screams more to get down. So we repeat this fight over and over until finally, he decides to keep quiet and let me hold his hand. Then, I went to the self standing jewelry case and started looking at rings. Kai then started grabbing all of the rings that were hanging and throwing them on the ground! I started to pick them up and hang them back up but then Kai got away to his next "victim"...the clothing shelf. He pulled the entire row of shirts that were folded and stacked on the shelf!! I quickly ran over and started putting the shirts back when he found books...Yes, one by one, he started throwing the books down onto the ground while the other customers just looked on and laughed.
By the time I finished cleaning up all the mess he had pretty much gone through the entire store and nothing seemed to spark his interest anymore. So, he just decided to lie flat on the ground. Normally, I'd pick him up quickly because it's "dirty" but this day, I took the chance to quickly find a gift for Brandi and get out of the store!!!
At the checkout stand, the store employees all smiled and commented how cute Kai was...they obviously didn't see him in action earlier!
I was so happy to finally be out of the store so I put Kai in his car seat and headed straight home. 5 minutes of driving and Kai is snoring away! He was clearly exhausted from all that running around he did in the store.

Yogurt

Nov 12 2010 - Kai loves yogurt so much! Maybe it has something to do with me eating yogurt everyday of my pregnancy with him. This is how we bribe him! I guess I should be happy that he at least loves something healthy. He'll even it plain yogurt with just a little bit of sugar. Well, this day was no different from any of the other days...he was eating his yogurt snack....but, he got some on the table...I ran over to get a towel, but Kai took care of it for me on his own by licking the table! I guess he didn't want to waste a single drop!
