Cool Shoes

Thank you Uncle James for these new leather shoes! Kai is just learning how to stand up and walk so we were looking for something that's comfortable and non-slippery. These shoes will help Kai walk around on the wood floors without slipping and falling flat on his face!

Thank you!!!

Thank you everyone for being so kind and sending Kai so many Christmas presents! All the clothes are adorable and I will love playing "fashion show" with Kai. Jason never likes it when I do this saying "he's a boy! He doesn't like dress up" but it's just too fun. He'll also enjoy reading all the new books and playing with the toys. Merry Christmas!!!

Merry Christmas...Eve

After we went sledding on Christmas Eve, we went to my parents to celebrate Kai's very first Christmas. (Grandpa, Tutu, Grandma Great and Grandpa Great for Kai). We started early (around 3:30pm) so that Kai would be awake for the presents. It worked out perfect because we put Kai down for a nap (after the long day of sledding, he conked out!) and we got to eat a nice quiet meal as grownups! I didn't have to pick up puffs or pieces of bread off the floor and I didn't have to worry about chasing Kai's mouth with a spoon and airplane noises. He woke up towards the end of dinner but Grandpa and Tutu was happy to hold him while we finished our meals. As expected, Kai was still too young to really understand the concept of gifts and presents but he did enjoyed climbing on other people's presents (specifically large boxes). "Grandpa" was a trooper and tried to show Kai the way, but Kai still went back to his normal favorites...1) Gerber's Star Puffs 2)Stairs! Jason went up and down the stairs with Kai to keep him entertained. Jason and I figured that Kai wouldn't "get" Christmas this year, so we gave him some silly gifts like magazines (for him to rip up), Diaper Boxes (for him to climb on), and Kleenex (for him to pull and rip). Thank goodness for Grandparents, Aunties, and Uncles or Kai's Christmas would have been very deprived. These are pictures of Kai & Tutu, Kai climbing on the presents, Grandpa helping Kai open presents, Kai eating his puffs, Kai climbing stairs, and some of Kai's presents: 1. Kleenex (from Mommy and Daddy) 2. Church Clothes (from Tutu and Grandpa) 3. Walker/Car (from Tutu and Grandpa) 4. Singing Dog (from Aunty Jan). Maybe next year Kai will figure out that there's more fun inside all the boxes and wrapping paper!

sleigh ride

Grandpa Scott bought Kai his first sled so we took him sledding for the first time on Christmas Eve. We dressed him up in his snowsuit so that he was nice and warm but he hated getting dressed. It seems that it was also too warm for him in the house because he kept squirming around. But as soon as we went outside, he was a happy camper. We first just pulled him in the sled, but apparently this was not enough excitement because he just leaned back in the sled to a point that he was lying down flat...It almost looked like he was sleeping! But this "dead" reaction soon changed when we pushed him down the hill. He loved the speed and had a big smile on his face. Needless to say, Kai was exhausted after all the sledding and he quickly knocked out for his afternoon nap! The only downside was that Jason and I had to keep pulling him back up the hill and we were very sore. It was a fun family's day out and it made us more happy about building on our lot where we have the hills right in our backyard.

what's that smell?

Jason was feeding Kai and somehow the container went on fire in the microwave. It was only in the microwave for 15 seconds but it was enough to melt the container and make the entire inside of the microwave black! Jason SWEARS that he took off the aluminum foil seal completely off, but I certainly have my doubts...especially when I found the seal in the garbage and it clearly had a rip in it (which means parts of the seal was still on the container!) . Jason's still sticking to his story so I guess we'll never know.

mmm...cheerios

It took us awhile to start giving Kai solid foods. He was just about 9 months when he started eating his first real chewable solids (cheerios and mum mums). We were so worried that he would choke. He used to gag on oatmeal so we weren't sure how he would handle foods that he would have to chew/mush, but he LOVED it. By looking at him, you'd think he hates it since he has this sour face when eating dry foods, but he just keeps eating a way. I guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. He is just like Mommy and Daddy in that he loves to eat! It's funny to watch him since he sticks his whole hand in his mouth for one little cheerio, but he's getting better at it. Our current challenge is to keep him from stuffing his mouth full of cheerios. The other day, he started chocking because he had 2 handfuls of cheerios in his mouth! Jason and I panicked but we were able to get the food out of his mouth. His mouth was so full he couldn't even close his mouth to chew....silly little boy.

Tickle Me Kai

Kai is the most ticklish baby I have ever seen. He is ticklish on his feet, thighs, stomach, back, neck, and armpits! Jason was playing with Kai and it turned into a tickle fight. He just laughed and giggled...it's a good thing he's wearing diapers or I think he would have peed his pants!
